1) Definition

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer by the website when you visit. Cookies are used to make websites work more efficiently, and to provide useful information to website operators. When you use a website, the cookie will provide certain information about your visit (i.e. data associated with the use of the website, such as which pages have been visited and the duration of a User session etc.).

Cookies may be either “persistent” cookies or “session” cookies. A persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date, unless deleted by the User before the expiry date. A session cookie will expire at the end of the User session, when the web browser is closed. Cookies do not typically contain any information that personally identifies a User, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies.

Some of the purposes for which Cookies are installed may require the User's consent.

Where the installation of Cookies is based on consent, such consent can be freely withdrawn at any time following the instructions provided in this document.

2) Why cookies are used

Cookies help us provide, protect and improve our services, such as by personalizing content, tailoring and measuring ads, and providing a safer experience. We use cookies for the following purposes:

- Necessary cookies enable the functionality of the Website. These are anonymous cookies that allow Users to view the Website and use the functions on the Website. The information collected by these cookies is not used for marketing purposes. If you do not allow the use of this type of cookie, multiple parts of the Website cannot be used. The cookies also do not remember which other websites you have visited.

- Functionality cookies provide you with the best website experience possible. These are cookies that allow TLPS to remember the choices and preferences of visitors. Based on this information TLPS can show you more personalised information and you do not have to log in every time you visit our Website. Examples of collected data are country and language preferences. If you refuse the usage of this type of cookies TLPS can offer less support to you. The information collected by these cookies is anonymous and cannot follow your surfing behaviour on other websites.

- Performance enhancing cookies are anonymous cookies that are used to improve the Website. These cookies collect information about the way visitors use the Website, such as information about the most visited pages or the number of displayed error messages. An example of this type of cookies is Google Analytics. Google uses aggregated statistical information to give TLPS insight into how Users use the Website. Google may only provide this information to third parties if Google is required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on behalf of Google. More information about Google Analytics can be found here.

- Facebook, YouTube, and/or LinkedIn buttons. Social media buttons are included on our Website to promote our social media channels, in particular Youtube and LinkedIn. These buttons work through pieces of code that come from Facebook, YouTube, and/or LinkedIn themselves. Cookies are placed using these codes. TLPS has no influence on this. The privacy policies of these social media channels explain what they do with your (personal) data that they process via these cookies.

3) Which cookies we use

The Website itself does not use cookies, however, we do use Google Analytics to analyse the use of our Website. Google Analytics gathers information about website use by means of cookies. The information gathered relating to our Website is used to create reports about the use of our Website. Google's privacy policy is available at: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/ .

4) How to provide or withdraw consent to Cookies; How you can delete Cookies

The User can manage preferences for Cookies directly from within their own browser and prevent – for example – third parties from installing Cookies.

Through browser preferences, it is also possible to delete Cookies installed in the past, including the Cookies that may have saved the initial consent for the installation of Cookies by this Website.

Users can, for example, find information about how to manage Cookies in the most commonly used browsers at the following addresses: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

With regard to Cookies installed by third parties, Users can manage their preferences and withdrawal of their consent by clicking the related opt-out link (if provided), by using the means provided in the third party's privacy policy, or by contacting the third party.

Notwithstanding the above, TLPS informs that Users may follow the instructions provided on the subsequently linked initiatives by the EDAA (EU), the Network Advertising Initiative (US) and the Digital Advertising Alliance (US), DAAC (Canada), DDAI (Japan) or other similar services. Such initiatives allow Users to select their tracking preferences for most of the advertising tools. TLPS thus recommends that Users make use of these resources in addition to the information provided in this document.
